The City Arts Unit aims to develop the arts through the support and encouragement of creative people. Based at the Central Library in the city's Learning Services Directorate, the unit is ideally placed to contribute to the development of arts in schools, with libraries and the youth service, and throughout the wider community.

It has a strategic brief that encompasses all artfoms, amateur and professional levels of arts activity, community and youth arts, arts in schools, arts funding, advocacy work, and an advisory service.

The City Arts Unit

• supports the leading arts organisations in the City such as Hull Truck Theatre *
  Hull Time Based Arts *
  ArtLink Exchange *
  and Quay Art *
  
• delivers the annual Humber Mouth Literature Festival
  
• publishes City Arts News as a service to the arts community and the wider public
  
• administers the Grants to Arts Fund and the recently launched Live Music Fund
  
• Promotes and develops dynamic arts activities and special projects throughout the city
